Doxology - “words of glory’ or ‘expression of praise’
1 Chronicles 29-
10 Then David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly: “O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever! 11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.
Isaiah 46:3
“Listen to me, descendants of Jacob, all you who remain in Israel. I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born.
Hebrews 12:25 Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven!
Isaiah 48:16
Come closer, and listen to this. …
Isaiah 46:12 - “Listen to me, you stubborn people…”
Prayer = Conversation
In a conversation you need to listen and respond.
How do we hear God?
1- In His Word.
1 Peter 1 (MSG)
3-5 What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.
2- Through His People.
Acts 2:17 — "And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy..."
2 Peter 1:21 — "For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
Colossians 3:16 - Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
A- God will never contradict His Word. No new revelation can take the place of His Word.
B- Confirmation- the Bible mentions several times that a thing should be confirmed by 3 or more witnesses.
C- Holy Spirit within you will confirm. “I just know”
3- His Quiet Voice Inside.
The more you listen- the more you hear.
Show Him you’re intentionally listening and you value what He says.
Then we respond.
Why- “In Jesus’s Name, Amen”?
John 14: 13-14 - You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!
Asking in Jesus’s Name:
1- Align with His Will
2- Access His delegated Authority.
If you can’t ask it in Jesus’s Name- you shouldn’t ask for it.
Amen - ‘so be it’
Matthew 6 Prayer Pattern
